Jane Hunter OBE

Jane Hunter OBE has spent 20 years at the forefront of the New Zealand Wine industry where she has not only built her own Hunters Wines into a successful company, but also worked tirelessly to promote the profile and reputation of the Marlborough region.

She has shown total commitment to the New Zealand cause over a long career and enjoys enormous respect from her peers both at home and internationally. Jane's example is an inspiration to women working in any area of wine.

Her experience covers everything from viticulture, through company management to international trade and liaison with governmental agencies. That requires a multitude of different skills and a great amount of dexterity, and Jane has mastered all the challenges she has faced.....

It was our honour to welcome Jane as our guest speaker in August; especially as she had been specifically requested by so many of our members; successful women in business in their own rights. 

Write Up From The Augusts Events....

No sunny RSVP from Mother Nature again this month! But even a host of detours caused by flooded regional roads weren’t going to prevent us from having two fabulous events on 25th/26th August.  The Honest Lawyer played host to our Nelson event and Hunters Garden Café to Marlborough  – Home to the globally recognised brand of ‘Hunters’ with its award winning wines; not to mention its multi talented business owner, Jane Hunter OBE: Our guest speaker for both evenings. 

 …And what better way to start than with a sparkling glass of Hunters Miru Miru, kindly sponsored by Jane, who worked the room like a true networker from the outset; mingling with both our Members and guests as we settled in for two ‘action packed’ meetings, with member speaker slots and informative guest presentations enhancing our regional business awareness and increasing our knowledge base.  

Showcasing and profiling such a broad range of information has got to be one of the highlights of our regional networking events and the balance is proving to be an outright success, together with our variety of excellent speakers.  

Having been personally requested by so many, it was just a pleasure to welcome Jane - Whilst recognised on the global circuit of successful women in wine (and business), it felt such a privilege that Jane was speaking on home turf! Her story is certainly one which highlights we can all achieve so much, especially when we place ourselves in the hearts of everything we do; drawing upon specific external experience / advice, and adapting a strategic approach to accountability.  

Jane has experienced staggering growth within her business; achieving a remarkable story in a short space of time - Her passion for her business so apparent. And as for the wine itself….I would invite each and every one of you to experience some!!……The pinot noir certainly a favourite of mine on the night!
